Whew, I can’t believe I finally finished this business mentorship post. This idea originated because I wanted to help my fellow entrepreneurs who may be stuck, discouraged, or ‘just plain tired of the solopreneur struggle. ‘Believe You me, I understand’! [NC slang]
[I found myself reading, following instructions, and signing up for new software, but it’s all good].
This journey made me laugh out loud, startled, and even more fortified to know that ALL THINGS ARE possible according to “The Good Book”.
In my curation process, I came across resources, that will set your soul on fire, soothe your worries, and have you ‘Speaking in Tongue”. 😜
One coach, in particular, was a young girl whose mother sold her to a drug dealer at 5 years old, and, in her own words, “he didn’t sexually assault me, he raped me”.
She also recounted a time when she and her sisters were so hungry, she escaped outside (because they weren’t allowed out of the house) to grab handfuls of grass to eat.
I promise; regardless of any situation you’ve been through, are going through, or are scared sh*tless to do, there is an expert survivor on the list of 52 you can relate to.
Surprisingly, many entrepreneurs avoid business mentorship, although according to the SBA, it’s one of the most overlooked yet, highly effective components of success. We hope our curated list equips you with a diverse range of mentor choices bypassing the mentorship avoidance hurdle altogether.
Let’s get started!

1. Les Brown
Who doesn’t know Mamie Brown’s baby boy, Les Brown? All grown up!
Les has been motivating people for decades. I attended one of his very first seminars, in Norfolk, VA, there were about 20 people if that many.
I purchased his cassettes and have been listening for 4 decades. (I have another story about Les that will blow you away, be sure to connect!)
He’s famous for “You’ve Got to Be Hungry.” But one of my favorite mentions is, “The How “is none of your business.” So, ‘I’m saying to you’: if you’re going through something right now, don’t worry about the HOW, because that is none of your business!
If you want to learn more about Mr. Les Brown, click on this square on the map.
2. Brian Tracy
I attributed Brian Tracy for helping me not to waste my life. I used to listen to his CDs religiously. I love his mild, calming voice. His doctrines are straightforward and on point.
Think about this: Brian Tracy said, “Let me ask you a question: If I gave you 5 million dollars today, would you continue to do what you do for a living?
If you answer ‘NO’… Then you are wasting your LIFE.” I don’t know about you, but that hit me so hard, that I eventually fired myself as a self-employed hairstylist.
I loved doing hair, and it’s impossible not to fall in love with your clients, but it wasn’t my calling… after 25 years!
Because if you’d given me 1mil I’m gone. 😅
Click on Brian Tracy’s map square, if you want to get real with You.

3. Dr. Joe Dispenza
Like many of us Dr. Dispenza fans, I was introduced to his teaching from “What the Bleep Do We Know!?” From there, I was intrigued because I knew something was happening with this brain but couldn’t explain it.
(Boy, do I have stories…. Y’all … I keep me a story 😅).
Seriously; shortly after my online intro, I bought his book: “Evolve Your Brain: The Science of Changing Your Mind.” You can’t read and comprehend that book and not change. I challenge you, to read it or check out his YouTube videos.
Let me know what you think. Follow the same instructions, and click on the square, to get more info.
4. Lisa Nichols
Lisa is an amazing entrepreneur. She represents what’s possible and that if you can believe it, you can achieve it. She used her mind to get started. Her goal was to raise $50,000 to start her coaching.
But she received the exact amount, got started, and never looked back. However, it wasn’t quite the cakewalk as I just wrote. Explore Lisa’s story to see what drove her to success; any mother will understand.
5. Tiphani Montgomery
Tiphani is a prophet, teacher, and founder of… #1 COVERED BY GOD. She realized before you can teach believers money-making strategies, you must show from a biblical standpoint that it’s OK to be rich.
She said that people were thanking and asking God to pay their $13 electric bill. But we serve a mighty God; the riches aren’t just for the non-believers, they’re for the believers too.
You can join Tiphani for a 2-and-a-half-day experience that teaches entrepreneurs how to make MILLIONS, influence MILLIONS, and win MILLIONS to Christ through the power of entrepreneurship.
You must hear straight from Tiphani, she’s no meek and mild Christian; she voices her opinion. Click her square to find out more about her online training program.
PY is lying on her bookcase
I know that the internet is like the bathroom wall… anybody can make any claims, and I’ve made a few myself. Just for, transparency, you can view my bookcase of books, this photo was taken about 5 years ago. I used to read a book a week.
6. Wes Watson
This brother is the truth. Now, we are about to get down to business. I have good news and bad news, which do you want first? OK. I heard you. The bad news is that I’m about to eliminate all your excuses why you can’t succeed.
The good news is Wes paid the price in full, so now you can walk on through, scratch-free. Wes has a lot to share and does a great job doing so.
That said, check out his lifestyle and how he turned his life around. You know what to do. Tap Wes’ square.
7. Bob Proctor
Bob Proctor OOOOh. I love Bob Proctor, yep, I read one of his books as well. “You Were Born Rich.” It sounds like a simple little unassuming, but it lands right in the pocket.
I was first introduced to Bob from “The Secret”. That brain stuff gets me every time. But the way Bob can break it down and with relatable storytelling, it’s time and money well spent.
Attending one of his conferences is on my bucket list. And it’s a great reason to visit Toronto, Canada. Check out his schedule and videos for more info. Click on his square.
8. T. Harv Eker
Although I haven’t been to Toronto to see Bob, we changed planes in Toronto, on the way to Vancouver. This was a great experience and I still remember some of the mind games T. Harv taught. And I remember the trick ceremony he had as part of his seminar.
I won’t give it away, although I’m pretty sure he’s moved on from that; it’s been over 15 years since the conference. T. started in the fitness industry. Long story short, he capitalized on a super business deal that transformed his life.
One of the mantras he taught us. PLAY at level 10! Regardless of what you’re doing raise it to a level 10, ‘all-out’ massive action. T. Harv has free training; the info is on his YouTube channel.
You know what to do, right?

9. Mark Victor Hansen
Some of you may not recognize the name but may know his story. Mark Victor Hansen is one of the masterminds behind “The Chicken Soup for the Soul” series (Jack Canfield was the other).
What a name and that’s exactly what hundreds of publishers thought. I think it was the last publisher who took a chance on a book of stories. Although, the Bible is a book of stories. (Anyway, moving on). They finally got published and the rest is history.
But like with most stories, there’s a story inside a story. Before this venture, Mark was in MLM, did well, and somehow lost it all.
He contemplated suicide but didn’t follow through.
Years later he started a community called the Enlightened Millionaire Institute. The program was started by, Mark and Robert Allen “The Multiple Streams of Income” and The no-money-down real estate guru.
(This is how I purchased my real estate, I could buy it, but I didn’t know how to be a landlord, another long story.)
This is when I was introduced to Internet marketing. Back then we called it Infopreneur, and that’s how I met Jay Abraham, T. Harv Eker, and other gurus. I said that because it’s important to seek, business mentorship; you’ll never know how it will impact your life.
Here’s a picture of me and Mark Victor Hansen:
This is a photo of me and Mark Victor Hansen
Mark Victor Hansen and Robert G. Allen started an Enlightened Millionaire Institute program. I was cold-called by them. I guess they knew I was HUNGRY (Les Brown). Best $1500 I EVER Spent!

Now sober, Eric’s mission is to help others struggling with addiction. He built a thriving business in the addiction treatment industry and offers a story of redemption, hope, and personal growth.
15. Gary Vee
Well, I don’t think Vee needs an introduction. Unless you live under a rock, you know Gary Vee. Either you adore him, or you dislike his F-Bombs.
I remember Gary, from back in the day when I first started online in 2006. Gary was doing those wine-tasting videos.
I admit, they didn’t do anything for me, maybe because I’m a country girl from NC who doesn’t drink wine. But I do remember him being excited and enthusiastic.
Fast-forward, the videos worked. Gary grew the family business from 3 million to 60 million in 5 years. And now Gary is a money mogul. I, in return, did the unthinkable: I quit online and started a traditional business. BIG Mistake… just in case you were wondering ~ (I know I would)
If anyone can put their hands on Gary, tell him that an old Black lady, from back in the day wants to say hello and congratulate him. And to prove I’m old school… Y’all wait until you hear this.
There was another big guru, back then named Willie Crawford.
If I gave you thousands of guesses you wouldn’t guess how he became rich online. OK ready… he sold a Chitlins recipe book. 😅 yes Seriously, the riches are in the niches!
Niche Worthy
In the grand marketplace, it’s easy to get lost in the crowd. But Willie Crawford, the Chitlin’ Cookbook king, proved that your niche could be right under your nose. Sometimes, it takes guts to see the gold in the ordinary.
And yes, his hometown is about 40 minutes from where I live in NC. LOL!!! Now, Willie’s swimming in millions. So, if you know Gary, tell him I said hello and to drop the sister a comment, and I’m sticking and staying this time. (Ask him if he knows Willie Crawford?)
16. Jay Abraham
“Y’all” ready for this? Gen Z and younger may not know Jay, but Jay Abraham is the ultimate marketing strategist.
Yes, I’ve seen him twice and I have his cassette tapes (I know, I’m telling my age, but hey, I can’t help it!). Jay has this unique way of delivering information like no one ever has. Jay makes you think, and he achieves this by constantly asking questions.
I dare anyone who’s looking for marketing ideas to check Jay out. He will blow your mind.
But before you jump all in unless you’re swimming in millions, you’ll fare better checking out his online library (unless his prices have gone down). If you’re thinking, “Well Deborah, how did you see him?” I’ve seen Jay two or three times.
Aha! But they were all introductory seminars, you know the ones they do to explain what you get if you sign up for the big program. But his introduction was enough for me, at the time, plus what I could afford.

She teaches financial literacy, but she is tight as heck. I agree with Teri Ijeoma: you must pull from the cheap hotels—at least 3 stars.

45. Neil Patel
This stings a little because I remember when Neil was a teenager trying to make SEO work. I was out there as well. Again, he stuck with it and yep, you guessed it, I quit.
I know this is about Neil, but to clear my reputation; see what had happened, was: I learned SEO but didn’t know how to scale.
I was working alone, performing all of the SEO tasks for my clients. As a solopreneur, your clients became more like friends, and I loved my clients, but I was working too HARD!
Neil went on to be very successful, now regarded as the SEO MASTER AND KIND I must add. Anybody reading this that knows Neil, tell him this old lady named PY says – What’s Up!
You can catch Neil all over the place, but he has a digital agency that he heavily promotes. Check him out at this square.
46. Matt Diggity

47. Glen Allsopp
Many of you may be familiar with Detailed, it’s a Chrome extension for SEO, well Glen is the creator. ‘In fact’, I answered a HARO a few years ago and didn’t know it was him, ‘well really, I didn’t know him then.
Anyway, my input was selected as part of the roundup. All that to say I was checking my backlinks and came across one of his pages with some super helpful info.
Be sure to check Glen out, you know the drill, check the square
Here’s the roundup, it’s still up, he removed the photos.
48. Miles Beckler
I used to watch Miles’ videos religiously years back. But recently I stumbled upon one and was touched by his sincerity. He was explaining Google’s E-A-T guidelines.
If you don’t know, Google acts up from time to time. (Just kidding, they say never bite the hand that feeds you).
I understand that if Google didn’t shake up the algorithm heavy hitters would control the first-page rankings.
‘What happened was’ many online marketers lost their businesses due to Google’s last algorithm change. Miles addressed that with comfort and grace.
He’s been online for a while and knows his stuff. He’s more than worth checking out.
49. Jade Beason
I remember Jade it seems like yesterday when she burst onto the scene. You won’t forget her because of a few things, but one is her British accent.
She’s fresh out of the trenches, probably freshly scarred – my favorite kind of mentor to learn from.
It reminds me of what I used to say about contractors (yes, I used to be in construction too – we used to work for banks and other lending institutions… long story).
The banks would always try to spend the least possible. So, when we called contractors, we would look to see what they drove.
If they rolled up in a brand-new red Hummer, you knew the estimates would be nose-bleed high. Our favorite kind of contractor drove a beat-up rusty minivan, back row seating removed, and shelving up! 😅🤣. In many cases, you can get the same level of work at a much cheaper price.
I’m not saying Jade isn’t getting paid, but I doubt she charges Jay Abraham prices. Sorry, Jay, I’m not saying you aren’t worth it.
